Newsletter August 2022

Dear Member

We hope everyone is enjoying the summer, not melting in the heat while also dodging the downpours. With the warm weather it is great to see so many people sitting outside the Foresters Arms, enjoying a drink in the summer sunshine.

It is now a month since Diana and Paul became our new tenants. Following the handover, there were several issues to resolve before they could get up and running. Staying true to our community ethos, it was great to see so many people rally round to help and support. The Foresters is now firing on all cylinders. The bar is bustling, a full menu is available (we recommend the chicken skewers) and the guest rooms are all booked. Already Diana and Paul have received a number of positive reviews reflecting how inviting the pub looks and how welcoming it is.

Dear Member

We hope you are all making the most of the summer sunshine. At this time of year, it's great to be able to sit outside with friends and enjoy a drink or two in the warm evenings.

At the Foresters Arms, our change of tenant is almost upon us. As Keith and Lesley's tenure comes to an end, we would like to reiterate our thanks to them for their stewardship of the pub during their tenure. lf you have not already done so, there is still time to thank them personally and to wish them well for the future. Although it will be on this side of the bar, they do not intend on being strangers to the Foresters Arms.

We are excited that Diana and Paul are about to take up the reigns and this is a great opportunity for them to introduce themselves.

Newsletter April 2022

Dear Member

Spring has arrived in Coverdale, lambs are in the fields, daffodils are flowering and the trees are in bud, even though we are still experiencing occasional snow and hailstones.

Since our last newsletter in March, we have been busy filtering applications and shortlisting applicants. We asked each of the shortlisted applicants to produce business plan, which would include their overall vision and plans for the future of the Foresters Arms as a community owned pub. The first round of interviews were held on the 16th March. The panel completed interview assessment forms for each applicant which were then shared with the full Board.

The successful applicants from the initial interviews were invited to present their business plan to the full Board of Directors on the 5thApril. Prior to this final interview, references were requested from the applicant's referees. Following the interviews and detailed discussions about their business plans and vision for the Foresters Arms, we decided to offer the tenancy to a couple who between them have a wealth of experience in hospitality, which includes five years of successfully running a pub.
