Newsletter March 2022

Dear Member,

Now that many of the COVID restrictions have eased, it is good that the Foresters Arms continues to be a place to escape the winter storms and to catch up with friends and neighbours.

ln our last newsletter in January, one of the things we talked about was the process for confirming the tenancy for the next lease period.

We acknowledge that we could have provided more detail to you all at that time on the steps already completed and the stages to come. We promised to update everyone as the process continues, so hopefully you find this latest newsletter helpful.

At the same time, we also hope you appreciate, while the process is ongoing, there are limitations on how much information we can disclose. The CCP Board is trying hard to strike the right balance between keeping our shareholders updated whilst also respecting the privacy and confidentiality of all those involved in the pr ocess. Unfortunately, this inevitably gives rise to some speculation and rumour.

So, what can we share?

We spoke with Keith and Lesley initially in November, explaining that we wanted to be fair to all shareholders and thus we decided the way to do this was to advertise the tenancy. We explained our reasoning, hoped they understood and would, if they were interested, make their own application.

As many of you will already have heard, Keith and Lesley have chosen not to apply. Therefore, we can confirm that by the end of July, we will have new tenants in the Foresters Arms. Over the next few months, we hope everyone takes the opportunity to thank Keith and Lesley for their stewardship of the pub and their contribution to the history of the Foresters Arms. I am sure we will have the opportunity to thank them properly and more fully before their tenure ends.

We are delighted by the amount of interest we have received in the new Lease. We ran a regional and national advertising campaign and the enquiries we received have led to a good number of strong, credible applications. With the deadline for applications being the end of February, we are now progressing to the next phase of recruitment.

We are genuinely excited by the applicants and the different options they represent. However, there remains quite a few steps in the process before we make any final decisions. Over the coming days and weeks, we will filter applications, scrutinise and shortlist the applicants, following up with various interviews, references and financial checks. We are keen to ensure that this is a rigorous and thorough process that results in the best candidate taking the Foresters Arms into its next chapter.

All of these various steps will take a little more time to complete, but we keep our fingers crossed that it won't be long before we can introduce everyone to your new tenants.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions or feedback about the lease process, please share this with us, it is always valued. Further newsletters with more updates will be issued in due c,ourse, but untilthen we hope to see you in the Foresters Arms very soon.
