Happy New Year!

What a way to start the New Year, over a pint in the bar.  As most of you will know we were successful in our promise to re-open the Foresters Arms by Christmas, with the doors being opened and the first pints being pulled on Christmas Eve.

Since then many people have taken the opportunity to sample the friendly atmosphere created by Kimberley and Allan over a pint and admire the results of all our hard work, including the fully refurbished bar, snug and toilets…. and yes for the first time in living memory, “it’s even warm in the toilets!”.

We thank everyone who has helped in the mammoth task of getting the pub refurbishment to where it now is; from our contractors, who could not have worked harder and who have been fantastic; Electricals – T&ME Jackson (Grewelthorpe), Plumbing & Heating – G.N Thwaite  (Richmond), Building Works – Paul Young Building and Joinery  (Leyburn), and to all those volunteers who have tirelessly helped clean and decorate the building, often throughout the night to avoid hindering progress with the contractors.

If you have visited the pub you will know that work is not finally complete as we still have the catering kitchen and letting rooms to finish.  We plan to continue this work as soon as possible.

To date we have raised £348,250 which is a staggering amount in only nine months, for which we thank everyone of you for your help and continued support in raising funds.

We hope you agree we now have a beautiful asset that we can all be proud of and enjoy.

Many thanks
